Marc Woods - Race to the South Pole

Author

"I love to read and listen to inspirational stories, but sometimes it is difficult to apply any of their content to your own life. In writing Personal Best I wanted to share my life experiences, to relate how I dealt with, and overcame, the different challenges that I faced and then went on to achieve success. But, more importantly, I wanted to do it in a way that might be useful to others.

MENCAPThis 704km race to the South Pole has been called the most difficult and testing event in the world and has been held just once before. On that occasion James Cracknell and Ben Fogle were filmed for the TV series ‘Thin Ice’ as they struggled to drag their 70kg pulks in temperatures as low as -50C.

The intrepid pair will leave the UK on the 14th December 2011 and not return until the 4th February 2012. Having been left to fend for themselves for two months we expect them to return with substantial beards and hopefully the same number of toes they left with.

Through this endeavour Team SladenWoods are delighted to be able to support MENCAP and we encourage everyone to visit our charity page and give generously to this worthy charity.
